U.S. Women Take Bronze In Short Trail Event In Austria

Jennifer Lichter Leads American Team In 45.2-kilometer Race; U.S. Men's Team Sixth

INNSBRUCK-STUBAI, AUSTRIA - The United States women collected another bronze medal in the short trail event to cap off a successful day two of competition at the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships in Innsbruck-Stubai, Austria. 

The Americans ran a team total time of 15 hours, 54 minutes and 29 seconds over the 45.2 kilometer course, with Jennifer Lichter leading the charge with a fourth place run in 5:11:55. Emkay Sullivan secured a top-10 finish, running 5:19.43 to place ninth, with Kimber Mattox cracking the top 20 with a 16th-place finish in 5:22:51 and Klaire Rhodes finishing 21st in 5:29:49 for the U.S. 

France earned gold in both team and individual, with Clementine Geoffray crossing the finish line in a first-place effort 4:53:12 to lead the French to run 15:35:53 as a team.  

Switzerland’s Judith Wyer and Theresa Leboeuf earned silver and bronze, respectively, with Wyer running 4:55:13 and Leboeuf running 5:09.29. Switzerland also earned silver in the team standings with a total running time of 15:44:14. 

Garrett Corcoran placed 14th in a time of 4:35:34 in the men’s race to lead the US to finish sixth with a team total of 14:03:50. Max King finished 19th just a few minutes behind Corcoran in 4:41:50, with Jackson Brill coming in 30th at 4:46:08, Craig Hunt finishing 37th in 4:53:02 and Joz Aziz collecting 58th in 5:05:42. 

Stian Hovind Angermund of Norway held off Great Britain’s Thomas Roach in the end to take home the individual gold in a time of 4:19:00.  

Roach’s silver effort of 4:21:18 guided the British to gold in the team standings with a total time of 13:18:52. 

Italy earned silver in a total time of 13:26:32, led by Luca Del Pero taking home bronze in 4:22:04. France finished with the bronze in 13:34:38, with Thibaut Baronian finishing fourth in 4:25:41 to lead the French. 

In the Overall Federation Team Award standings, Italy leads with 2,123 points after two days of racing, with Germany sitting in second at 2,084 points and the US in third at 2,060 points.  

**The Overall Federation Team Award is the combination of points between the men’s and women’s races.
